dc.description.abstractThe Scottish Parliament’s ‘Children and Young People’ Bill has extended statutory responsibilities for the welfare of children to include their well-being. This article focuses on the ‘named person’ service, arguing that an attenuated understanding of surveillance by politicians and other stakeholders has contributed to a failure to adequately consider the social control dimensions of this new universal provision.
