The Liber Ardizonis is a lost early thirteenth-century readjustment and expansion of the Libri Feudorum – the feudal customs codified in twelfth-century Lombardy. Its author was the glossator Iacobus de Ardizone de Broilo, whose other significant work, the Summa Feudorum, is one of the principal sources for the study of the Libri Feudorum. By analysing the strikingly neglected manuscript traditions of Ardizone's works and clarifying the slow process of production of these treatises and legal texts, the article reappraises a 1910 survey by Emil Seckel and provides new insights into the early codification of the Libri Feudorum.
