The foundation of the Reformation Studies Institute in 1993 reflects the university's continuing commitment to enhancing St Andrews' established reputation in this field of scholarship. In the centuries since the Reformation St Andrews has cultivated a tradition of excellence in Reformation studies. Its library boasts a rich collection which has been carefully developed over the years and which dates back to contemporary works from the reformers' own libraries. The Institute provides a focus for the university's advanced work in this area.
