dc.description.abstract | As the title indicates, this thesis is concerned with a thorough investigation of the "phonematic", "phonotactic" and "para-phonotactic" sub-systems of Southern Standard British English from the view-point of the theory of Axiomatic Functionalism. Like a sonata, this work is divided into three PARTS, and each PART is divided into a number of Chapters. Some of the Chapters are further divided into yet smaller Sections for simplicity reasons.
