The School of Economics & Finance is a dynamic research-led School that aims to both undertake research of the highest quality and to bring the understanding and excitement from the latest cutting-edge research into our teaching throughout our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. We are very highly rated in UK University subject league tables and are consistently ranked the top Economics unit in Scotland. We were rated 8th in the most recent Guardian ranking, 12th (equal) by The Times and 9th by The Complete University Guide (in Association with The Independent) Our strength is in applied theory but particularly in dynamic macroeconomics, finance, household economics, competition and innovation and climate change. We support two research centres - the Centre for Dynamic Macroeconomic Analysis (CDMA) and the Centre for Research in Industry, Enterprise, Finance and the Firm (CRIEFF) - and run annual international Conferences in both Dynamic Macroeconomics and in Applied Microeconomics. We are actively involved in the new Scottish Institute for Research in Economics (SIRE).
