CHR has been engaged in independent and collaborative research since 1990, and its large body of research serves local, national and international policy makers and practitioners. Following the appointment of Duncan Maclennan as Director, new research capacities were developed to link housing processes and outcomes to economic, social and environmental change. The number of staff at CHR is currently 29, including 7 PhD students. Their expertise builds upon substantial experience in social housing data collection and analysis. CHR's work is increasingly used by those with interests in cities, health & education determinants, carbon reduction and housing policy ultimately contributing to better chances and places for people.
