The St Andrews Scottish Studies Centre (SASSC) was founded in 1993. Its purpose is to provide a focus for students and staff at St Andrews whose interests include Scotland's past, present and future. The Centre draws on the University's wealth of expertise in Scottish history, literature, and art. In doing so, it promotes an inter-disciplinary approach to the study of Scottish subjects. That is, the procedures and values of one discipline are permitted to enrich or modify those of another in the interests of a broader understanding. The University's setting, historical associations, strong staff resources and rich library materials make St Andrews an ideal place for Scottish Studies.
